The Uninvited

The 2009 film "The Uninvited" is a psychological horror film, directed by the Guard brothers, Charles Guard and Thomas Guard. It stars Emily Browning, Arielle Kebbel, Elizabeth Banks, and David Strathairn. The story brings forward to the danger of appearance versus reality. Anna, recently released from a mental asylum, convinces herself that her father's girlfriend, the nurse of the family Rachel has killed her invalid mother by burning to death. In fact, she herself unintentionally caused the death of both her mother and sister, Alex. She hallucinates that Alex is beside her and Rachel wants to kill both of them. However, it is a case of psychic disorder. She kills Rachel and cuts the body into pieces by a knife and throws it into a dustbin. The whole picture except the final conclusive scene is deceptive. The 2010 film "Teen Patti" starring Amitabh Bachchan, R. Madhavan, Shraddha Kapoor, Ben Kingsley, Dhruv Ganesh, Sidhdharth Kher, Vaibhav Talwar, and others belongs to the mystery genre. It showcases the pernicious impact of materialism in life of four students, an assistant professor, and a senior associate professor. To evaluate the application value of his theorem, as his research paper has been rejected several times, he is going to practically apply the probability theory in gambling. Evincing in underground chains, he, accompanied by his students, and the assistant professor, turns to big casinos. The viewer watches the slow decay of morale, relationship, hesitation, ego, and self-esteem. As a consequence, a student commits suicide, taking no more the burden of blackmailing the professor.

"Citizen Kane" is a 1941 movie by Orson Welles. It is described as one of the greatest movies ever made in Hollywood as well as World cinema. It has begun various trends, like deep focus, and thus influenced many succeeding directors. The film deals with, in a pseudo-biographical manner, the life of a newspaper-magnet Charles Foster Kane. Kaalakandi

The movie "Kaalakandi" is a portrait of life perceived through the eyes of a dying man, played by Saif Ali Khan. He attends a marriage ceremony, having got informed of a stomach cancer by the doctor, and takes a drug, unlike his manners. He is presented as a good man with abstinence. Despite a restricted life style, he has got cancer and this idea turns him desperate. He commences drinking, spending time with a transgender prostitute. Besides him, the lens also focuses on three strata, where in the lower class belong two smugglers, a young couple of upper class and a marriage of higher upper class. There is a cross dialogue between the classes and an underlying hint at the operations of destiny and chance matters.
